Gloria Hernandez of Neighborsgo reports that the Irving City Council approved a development agreement last week that will bring the Texas Musicians Museum to the Downtown Irving Heritage Crossing District.

The museum, previously located in Waxahachie’s historic Rogers Hotel, will be at 222 E. Irving Blvd. The plan comes as part of the city’s push to revitalize its historic downtown.

The agreement is for a five-year lease of $3,500 per month, with an option to offset rental payments if the museum hosts up to six community events per year. The city is providing $750,000 from its Economic Development Fund for building and site improvements. Zoning is expected to include the sale of beer and wine. It will host concerts on indoor and outdoor stages.

The museum is scheduled to open in 2014. Visit texasmusiciansmuseum.com.
